Have you ever wondered how some creators get millions of views while you only have a few likes? Let’s discuss techniques to help your content go viral and grow your audience. I may not solve your audience issue right away, but I can guide you to grow it gradually! At the end, I will provide a content posting outline!

Follow Trends with a Twist
To build traffic on Tik-Tok organically stay involved and updated about current trends – while some artists may not like keeping up with trends, they are important for staying relevant in the TikTok community. It’s crucial to not only acknowledge these trends but also to research the new art movements that capture public interest. One interesting trend involves artists slowly turning their canvas to reveal the painting, building anticipation among viewers. An artist who particularly impressed me painted the back of the canvas on the front, surprising the audience. Try to follow trends but add your own twist.
Time-Lapse Videos
Another popular trend is creating time-lapse videos, where artists record themselves drawing or painting, showing their creative process in a shorter format. These videos highlight the artist’s skills and help audiences appreciate the details of art-making. Good lighting is essential for quality recordings, as it significantly affects how the artwork is viewed. Therefore, investing in proper lighting can improve your content’s appeal and encourage more interaction from your audience.
Engage with other Artists
Follow other artists and interact with their posts. Usually this will result in the artist adding you back and liking your posts too. It also helps the algorithm understand what kind of content you like and who you should be pushed out too. This also shows Tik-Tok that you’re not a bot!
Build Engagement by Researching and Sharing Your Opinion
Post something small if a big project feels overwhelming. For example, research a favorite historical artist and explain why you admire their work. I’ve found that these research-based posts engage art lovers seeking deeper insights. Recently, I wrote about William Powell Frith, whose paintings reflect the social life of his era. I discussed how he portrayed everyday scenes while living a secret double life. This sparked conversations with my audience about the complexities of an artist’s life and work. Such posts can create a community that appreciates the nuances of art, inspiring others to think about their favorite artists and movements. Engaging with the past enhances our understanding of the present, fostering connections among enthusiasts.
Learn something and then teach it on Tik-Tok to build traffic Organically
To reinforce my learning, I create TikTok posts on subjects like watercolor techniques, sharing insights from a useful book I researched. This approach resonates with viewers, increases engagement, and boosts traffic to my account. Many young people prefer short videos to traditional articles, benefiting my content creation while fostering a community of learners eager to explore new skills together and by proxy they end up seeing some of my art.
My Engaging Content Posting Outline
- Day 1: Make a post talking about why or why not you like a specific artist from history. For example you could talk about William Powell Frith’s inability to remain faithful to his wife yet his paintings are extraordinary. Ask the audience if they are able to separate the art from the artist.
- Day 2: Follow a trend but add a twist at the end. For example when you reveal the painting by slowly turning it the audience discovers it is a painting of the back of a canvas itself.
- Day 3: Create a timelapse of a painting or drawing of someone important to the world, such as a recent Nobel Prize winner, and explain their significance.
- Day 4: Post a day in my life video and have yourself going out to get coffee or taking your dog for a walk. Later have a shot of you setting up your art stand or whatever you need and start drawing. For this it may require more effort and if you feel that you don’t want to show your surroundings for privacy reasons go ahead and skip.
- Day 5: Learn a new painting or drawing technique and teach it. This is beneficial for you because you become and better artist and it is very useful for your audience
- Day 6: Form an opinion about a piece of art and explain why you may not like their style in an authoritative tone. This makes your audience see you as credible and knowledgeable
- Day 7: Make a post of your art and thank your followers for liking and following your work and explain why you really appreciate them.
Reflect on your Progess
By day 7, you should see a noticeable improvement in your account’s traffic, which can be the result of your consistent efforts and strategic adjustments. If the outline works well for you, don’t hesitate to copy and paste it into your notes app for easy access later! This not only helps in keeping your work organized but also allows you to revisit and refine your approach as needed. You can even add more ideas to it too, enhancing the initial framework and making it even more robust. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions, so feel free to share your ideas in the comments, as this collaboration can lead to even greater insights and achievements for all of us!
